When Mr. and Mrs. Agarwal entrusted us with the task of designing a space for their young daughter, our priority was to create a warm, safe, and inspiring environment. The design revolved around fluidity, replacing sharp edges with gentle curves to ensure a child-friendly space. This concept led to the project’s name, Aarko, symbolizing the graceful arches and soft transitions that define the room.

 

A key transformation in the design was the integration of the balcony into the room, expanding it into a multifunctional space for play, learning, and rest. The material palette was carefully curated, embracing wood, cane, and warm hues to create a soothing yet playful ambiance. The use of cane in a child’s bedroom was a conscious choice proving that natural materials can be both durable and delightful.

 

To infuse the space with a sense of joy, vibrant upholstery and colorful elements were introduced, particularly in her play and study areas. A custom pegboard wall not only serves as a playful learning tool but also helps develop motor skills and creativity. The bedback features a nature inspired wallpaper adorned with birds-a personal touch reflecting her love for nature and its endless inspiration.

 

Understanding the little girl’s fondness for dressing up, an activity she shares with her mother we incorporated a rounded wooden-framed mirror to make the ritual even more special. A cozy window ledge seating was added, providing her mother with a peaceful corner to relax while she studies, sleeps, or plays. Additionally, the redesigned balcony bench serves as a central gathering spot for the family, a place where they can bond while she explores her world of learning and imagination.

 

Aarko is more than just a room; it’s a sanctuary where childhood unfolds, creativity blossoms, and precious family moments are cherished.
